    About Us

You Belong On The Water … We Can Help

From our roots as a dealer for the Laser® sailboat to today as Canada's largest sailboat, kayak, and SUP dealer, we have never forgotten our love for the water. Our staff of sailors and paddlers are here to help novices experience the joys of being on the water and to help experienced sailors, paddlers and kayak fishing enthusiasts keep their watercraft at top performance allowing them to spend more time doing what they love and less time looking longingly out at the water from shore.

    WHO WE ARE

In 1982, Hans Fogh, five-time Olympic sailor, designer of the original Laser® and Laser® Radial sails, and owner of North Sails Fogh opened Fogh Marine (originally named, Laser® Sailing Products) to sell the Laser® sailboat in the Greater Toronto area. Selling the Laser® led to a demand for the parts and equipment needed to enjoy the time on the water. Over the years additional brands were added to the offering; including Alcort Boats (Sunfish, Puffer, Force 5), Hobie Cat, Ocean Kayak, Old Towne, RS Sailng and more.

Today, Fogh Marine is Canada's largest small sailboat, kayak, and SUP dealer with extensive knowledge of the boats we sell and sailing and paddling in general.

We have a wide selection of small sailboats, kayaks, and SUP from top manufacturers, a large inventory of clothing and gear from brands including Gill, Helly Hansen, Zhik, Gul, Rooster, Magic Marine and Musto, a full-time in-house rigger, and embroidery and heat press services for team gear. Our core staff have been with the company for many years and have the experience to solve most issues encountered by wind and human-powered boaters.

    OUR HISTORY

    1982

Laser® Sailing Products begins selling the Laser® and the parts, gear, and maintenance supplies to keep the boat performing. We attend our first Toronto Boat Show and display the Laser for the first time.

    1985

Laser® Sailing Products changes it's name to Fogh Marine and expands the selection of parts and accessories in the store from Laser® centric products to general sailing and performance gear.

    1988

The Alcort Sailboats lineup of dinghies is added including the Puffer, Force 5, and the classic Sunfish.

    1990

Hobie Cat USA signs Fogh Marine up as a dealer and the inventory of the local dealer Catamarine arrives at the store. We begin selling and showing the Hobie 14, Hobie 16, Hobie 17 and 17 Sport, Hobie 18, Hobie 21 and Holder series of Hobie boats. This strong relationship continues to today.

    1995

Fogh Marine goes digital with the launch of www.foghmarine.com offering information and pricing on our line of boats and parts guides for our customers. It isn't pretty by today's standards but we're online.

    1996

We move out of the garage and into the main building at 2242 Lake Shore Blvd W. The garage becomes the boat showroom with a selection of sailboats available for viewing year round.

At the same time, Hobie introduces the Hobie Pursuit and Hobie Tandem (later renamed the Odyssey), their first rotomold paddle kayaks.

    1997

Hello CORK! Our first year as the on-site supplier for CORK Youth Series and the Olympic Classes event in Kingston. Sailors have the opportunity to purchase gear and get help with repairs to get them back on the water during the event. Eventually, we buy a covered trailer to make it easier but for the first year we operated out of a rental truck. Our participation in the event has continued since.

Hobie introduces the pedal-drive Mirage kayak.

    1999

The Ocean Kayak and Old Town lines of kayaks are added to the mix. The venerable Loon which keeps coming back in new variations is one of the best selling kayaks in the line at this time. We definitely start to need more space to display our selection of boats.

    2000

Hans Fogh officially sells Fogh Marine to his son Morten. Morten has been the manager for several years but now has full control of the business and the direction it takes.

    2004

We move! With the sale of 2242 Lake Shore Blvd W, we move to our current location at 901 Oxford St, just off the Gardiner Expressway at Islington Ave. This 14,000ft2 facility seems very large compared to our old home but we manage to fill it with product very quickly.

    2010

A busy year for us. The Necky brand of kayaks is added and Fogh Marine becomes the Canadian distributor of the RS Sailing line of sailboats. We launch our retail website shop.foghmarine.com and add a couple of shows to our spring season.

    2011

Zim Sailing becomes the newest supplier of small sailboats for us. The Club 420 sailboat's strong presence in club sailing makes the addition an easy one and allows us to add another source for hard to find parts.

    2016

Hobie introduces the Mirage Eclipse which marries the Mirage Drive pedal system with a stand-up paddle board. This simple to operate, quick and responsive board allows virtually anyone to get out on the water.
