Maintaining your boats windows is not difficult, but there are a few considerations to keep in mind. Eisenglass, Plexiglass, Lexan, Acrylics and clear vinyl, require care when cleaning to prevent scratching. Never rub the surface with a dry cloth. Excessive rubbing builds up a static charge on the plastics that will attract dust. Never use any soap or glass cleaner that is not made for clear vinyl or plastics… it will cause scratching and crazing of windscreen. Never use any product containing ammonia, bleach, oxalic acids or excessive alcohol or wax as this will cause irreparable damage. Always be sure to use a cleaner-preservative made for clear vinyl and plastics such as Skippers “Klear-To-Sea”.
